Today Vivi's class had dress as your favorite book character day, she dressed up as Fancy Nancy comeplete with Fancy's dog Frenchie!
If you were to dress up as your favorite book character who would you be? Mine would have to be Anne (with an E) of Green Gables!

Past|Present
Past:
As a child I remember people asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I have two very distinct memories involving this question: First I remember putting a broom from the coffe table to the couch and attempting to walk across this "tightrope", I wanted to be a memeber of Barnum Bailey's circus so bad! The second memory is I came home from school one day and told Mama that I wanted to be McGruff The Crime Dog and "Take a bite outta crime". Luckily enough I didn't grow up to be either of these things!
Present:
What I DID grow up to be is medical secretary (maybe I should have stuck to the dog or circus right?), but MORE importantly I grew up to be a wife and a MAMA! Having been single until the ripe old age of 27 (that's an old maid here in the south) I often despaired of NEVER getting married! I think I was so worried about getting married I never worried about having babies, after all I had Vivi and Aidan. It wasn't long after being married however that my biological clock started ticking LOUDLY! We agreed to wait one year before having a baby. Well our year was up and it just wasn't happening!! This is unheard of in my family, they are VERY fertile, no one has to "try" to get pregnant, if you are in any way related to a Beard! I hoped and prayed and cried for a baby that whole year! It felt as though it would NEVER happen. Bro. Raul Alvear came to our church and preached about faith and healing that late spring/early summer, although I did not go down front for prayer I prayed at my pew and believed that Jesus would give me a baby by hook or crook! June 7th (Vivi's Birthday!) I discovered I was expecting! We were so happy! We anxiously awaited our sweet baby girls arrival, to anxiously it turns out! My body decided it was tired of carrying a baby and due to severe preeclampsia Hadley Evyn was born December 13th exactly eight weeks early! The Neonatologist had prepared us for the worst, letting us know we could expect her to be born not crying or moving and pretty much unresponsive, however Hadley greeted the world with a lusty scream and waving her right arm praising Jesus! What a miracle.
God was so good to carry us through her six weeks in the NICU. Hadley has been home now nine weeks and is doing wonderful! She now weighs 9lbs and 15oz and is just perfect! I will be posting another slideshow of hospital pix and try to keep up with updating this blog.
I said all that to say this: I feel like I am doing EXACTLY what I was born to do, and am exactly what I was supposed to be when I grew up! I am SO thankful that God entrusted this precious life to Andy and me!!
